OOTD 2/8/15

You know you live in Chicago when it's 40 degrees outside and people leave the house without a coat on. I took today's 40 degree weather as an opportunity to wash my heavy winter coat, and instead wear some layers to say warm while running errands all day. I wear my herringbone vest whenever I can, and it got it for a steal! This vest was around $50 from Etsy. It's also actual herringbone, as opposed to the J. Crew ones that are just printed! 

How adorable are these bow gloves?? They remind me of Kate Spade, but were only $14 at Nordstrom Bp!

And of course, the Bean Boots.

Styling Lilly Pulitzer in the Winter

Nothing makes me more sad than watching my beloved Lilly Pulitzer shift dresses sit in the back of my closet collecting dust during the winter. And if you live in the midwest like me, winter can basically mean October-April. But have no fear, fellow Lilly-lovers! Now, I'm not saying throw on your favorite shift dress with boots and tights and call it a day, but there are still ways to wear Lilly in these cold and dreary months.

Option 1: Murfee Scarf
Lilly's ever-popular murfee scarves are the perfect way to add a little color into your winter wardrobe. The one I'm wearing here is the Lilly Loves Hope print (and part of the proceeds went to the American Cancer Society, too!)

Option 2: Printed Shirt

I can not for the life of me remember the name of this top, but I love it just because of how versatile it is. I've worn it over the summer with colored shorts, as well as how it's styled here. The vest dilutes the busy pattern of the shirt, while still being colorful. The knit scarf adds extra warmth as well as adding an extra wintery touch.

Snow Day

I am 18 years old, and I still squeal uncontrollably when I get the phone call from my school saying that class is cancelled due to the weather. As I've gotten older, I've realized all the difficulties that come with several inches of snow; it makes driving more difficult, shoveling is a pain in the butt. But I still LIVE for snow days.

Me and my friends decided to take advantage of the snow and go sledding in the woods. I laced up my trusty L.L Bean Boots and wiped the dust off the sleds in my basement, and braved the cold and the snow.

My snow day OOTD was a grey hoodie (it was cold, ok?), jeans, my L.L Bean Boots, a black Helly Hansen coat, and my navy Vineyard Vines baseball hat.

And of course, no snow day would be complete without a selfie.
